Burlington was a busy place for Halton police recently with an alleged act of arson taking place over the weekend and a robbery reported Friday afternoon.
• On Friday, April 19 at around 1:30 p.m., a man and woman entered a gift shop in the area of Maria and Brant streets, showed the employee a knife and demanded cash from the register, said Const. Jeff Dillon, Halton Police Media Relations Officer.
It’s alleged the suspects got a small amount of money and then fled the area.

No one was injured during this incident.
The woman is described as five-foot-seven, and carrying a black bag.
The male suspect is described as five-foot-seven, wearing a baseball cap and a beige jacket.
• On Sunday, April 21 at 1:30 a.m., Halton police and the Burlington Fire Department were called to the Burloak Waterfront Park at 5420 Lakeshore Rd., where nine small brush fires were taking place, said Dillon.

All fires were extinguished and while some vegetation was burned, police said there was no other damage and no injuries.

An investigation resulted in a 39-year-old man of no fixed address being charged with arson and failure to comply with a probation order.
He has since been released pending a court appearance.
